At home lifestyle newborn session

Hi, I'm Bella Wang, a wedding, event & portrait photographer based in New England. Owner of Atelier Boston.

Boston newborn videographer

There is something about the first few weeks at home that nothing can replicate. The house hasn’t quite been reorganized around the baby yet. The older sibling is still figuring out their new role. The dog is definitely still figuring out their new role. And mom and dad are running on coffee and adrenaline and something that looks a lot like joy. That’s exactly what I get to walk into when I do at-home lifestyle newborn sessions — and it’s honestly my favorite kind of work. Chaos makes for the best glimpses into your real world and as a Boston newborn videographer, I’m here to capture that.

This family welcomed me into their home in the Boston area just a few weeks after their newborn arrived. They had a toddler, a dog, and the kind of warm, lived-in house that photographs beautifully without trying. I offer both newborn photography and family videography services, and this session included both — which is increasingly how families are choosing to document this season of life, and for good reason.

And then there’s this frame. Bless this child. The dog is absolutely losing his mind over something off-camera, the photographer (hi, that’s me) is trying to get everyone to look in the same general direction, and this toddler has the energy of someone who has been done with this situation for the past fifteen minutes. That face is saying I was promised a good time and instead I got this. I framed it perfectly and I would not change a single thing about it.

This is the thing people always underestimate about an in-home session: you are comfortable. You are in your own space, in your robe or your favorite chair, and there is no pressure to perform. That ease shows up in the images — and in the film — in a way that just doesn’t happen when you’re in a place you’ve never been before.

These are the frames dads never think to ask for and then always love the most. There’s something about a father holding a brand new baby that reads like the world slowing down. On the film side, this moment had sound — a little exhale, a small shuffle — and that’s the version that makes people cry.

As a Boston newborn videographer, the video is shot concurrently with these frames. It’s all a part of the storytelling. I have to be given the space to watch you move as a family. There is gently prompting, but nothing overly directed so it still feels like your family.

Why add family videography to your newborn session?

A photo holds a moment. A film holds how it felt. The specific cry, the way the toddler tried to share a toy that was clearly too big for a newborn, the laugh that slipped out when everything went sideways. Those things don’t live in a still image no matter how technically strong the image is.

As a Boston family videographer, I create short films — typically two to three minutes — that are edited to feel cinematic without feeling produced. Real moments, real light. The film I made for this family will make you cry before the thirty-second mark. That’s not an accident. That’s the whole point.

I offer family videography services alongside newborn photography, and booking them together is the most seamless way to do it. One session. One photographer and videographer. No coordinating between two separate vendors, no two strangers in your house on the same day, no visual inconsistency between the photos and the film. Everything looks and feels like it belongs together — because it was made that way.

If you’ve been searching for a Boston newborn videographer, a lifestyle newborn photographer, or someone who offers both under one roof, this is what that looks like in practice.

What to expect from an in-home lifestyle newborn session

  • Sessions take place in the first two to four weeks, while your newborn is still in that deeply sleepy, curled-up phase
  • I’ll talk through your home’s light before we book — south or east-facing windows are ideal, but we work with what you have
  • Toddlers, dogs, and general household chaos are not only welcome, they’re part of the story
  • Family films are an add-on available to any newborn session booking
  • I serve Boston and surrounding areas including Cambridge, Brookline, Newton, Somerville, and the South Shore

Newborn windows are short and my calendar books out — if you’re expecting, the best time to reach out is during your second trimester. I’d love to hear about your family.

I'm one half of a team that's been together longer than we've been apart. Our work has been featured in Boston Magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, The Knot, and Brides — recognition we're proud of, but it's the images themselves that do the talking. With over 10 years in the industry and 400+ happy clients, we've learned to anticipate a moment before it happens, capturing images that are vibrant, alive, and full of your natural energy.

What sets us apart is our commitment to an experience that's authentically yours. Whether your day is a large celebration, an intimate elopement, or something in between, we take the time to understand your vision and create images that are timeless — true to color and depth, with a modern edge. We love a new challenge, so tell us about your wedding day vision.
